Caitriona King MA PhD MIPAA MICP
My name is Caitriona King. I am an accredited psychoanalytical psychotherapist and a registered member of the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP). My practice is located between Swords and Santry in North County Dublin, making it readily accessible to surrounding areas and also from the M1 and M50 motorways.
My ethos is simple, I work with the individual client and their unique story. I work within their capacity and at their pace, using the most appropriate therapeutic approaches for them. The aim of our work together is to gently uncover unconscious root causes of emotional distress and patterns of behaviour to enable reparation, allowing the client to become stronger and more fulfilled. I add the benefit of my medical scientific experience to specialise in dealing with a loss of physical health and cause of illness. I spent many years working in medical pathology and research, predominantly in the area of medical genetics and specifically neurogenetics. I am very familiar therefore with medical diagnostics, its language and process.
I am passionate about supporting mental health in the workplace and community. Symptoms and behaviour in the individual are also to be found in the structure of organisations, their systems and culture. With a long history of working within a large organisation to management level, working as a trainer and educator, being on the board of a number of professional bodies, working as a mediator and an employee assistance programme (EAP) counsellor, there is very little I have not come across. I bring the experiential benefit of this background to my clinical practice, talks and workshops where I integrate what psychoanalytic theory has to say in the social context.
"The lover of nature can see beauty in everything" wrote Irish poet and novelist Patrick Kavanagh while Renaissance artist, Albrecht Dürer, advised that we observe nature well and take her as our guide. I believe in the therapeutic power of nature and time spent in it. You will see this in some of my articles on the blog page and throughout my social media pages.
I know my skills will help you so please contact me, I am ready to hear your story.
